Using the Waitlist

Learn how to join event waitlists, get notified when it is your turn, and purchase tickets through the waitlist on Streets.

Some events on Streets offer a waitlist for sold-out tickets. Instead of missing out entirely, you can join the waitlist and get notified when a spot opens up. When it's your turn, you'll have a limited time to complete your purchase.

How the Waitlist Works
  • A ticket sells out but has a waitlist enabled
  • You join the queue and wait for your turn
  • When a spot opens, the next person in line is notified
  • You get a limited time (set by the organizer) to purchase
  • If you don't purchase in time, the spot goes to the next person

Joining the Waitlist (App)

When a ticket is sold out but has a waitlist enabled, you'll see a Join Waitlist button instead of "Sold Out" in the ticket selection screen.

  1. Open the event in the Streets app
  2. Go to the ticket selection / cart screen
  3. Look for tickets showing Join Waitlist
  4. Tap the button to join the queue
  5. You'll see a confirmation and a Waitlisted badge on that ticket

Note:

You cannot join the waitlist for your own event. Only attendees who are not the event organizer can join.

Joining the Waitlist (Web)

You can also join the waitlist from the event page on the Streets website:

  1. Visit the event page on streets.app
  2. Look for the Join Waitlist card for sold-out tickets
  3. Enter your name, email, and optionally your phone number
  4. Select the ticket you want to waitlist for
  5. Tap Join Waitlist
  6. You'll receive a confirmation message

Tip:

Provide both your email and phone number to maximize your chances of being notified promptly when it's your turn. You'll receive notifications on all channels you provide.

Leaving the Waitlist

If you no longer want to wait for a ticket, you can leave the waitlist at any time:

From the App

  1. Open the event in the Streets app
  2. Go to the ticket cart screen
  3. You'll see a Leave Waitlist option on the waitlisted ticket
  4. Confirm that you want to leave
Important:

Leaving the waitlist removes you from the queue entirely. If you rejoin later, you will be placed at the back of the line, not at your previous position.

When It's Your Turn

When a spot opens and you're next in line, you'll be notified immediately:

  • Push notification (if you joined via the app)
  • Email (if you provided a valid email)
  • SMS text message (if you provided a valid phone number)

The notification will tell you:

  • It's your turn to purchase
  • How many minutes you have to complete the purchase
  • Which ticket is available

Purchasing (App)

When it's your turn and you're using the Streets app:

  1. Open the event and go to the ticket cart
  2. The waitlisted ticket will now be available for selection (quantity of 1)
  3. Select the ticket and proceed to checkout
  4. Complete your purchase as normal
Important:

When purchasing a waitlist ticket, you can only purchase that single waitlist ticket. You cannot add other tickets to the same order. This ensures the waitlist system works fairly for everyone in the queue.

Purchasing (Web)

If availability exists for a waitlisted ticket on the web event page, you'll see a Purchase Available Ticket card:

  1. Visit the event page on streets.app
  2. Look for the purchase card (appears when waitlist availability > 0)
  3. Enter your name and email
  4. Select the available ticket
  5. You'll be redirected to Stripe's secure checkout page
  6. Complete payment within the time limit
  7. After payment, you'll be returned to the event page with a success confirmation

The purchase page includes links to the Refund Policy and Terms of Service for your review before completing the transaction.

Note:

The Join Waitlist card is always visible for waitlisted tickets, even when a purchase card is showing. You can join the queue for future availability while others are currently purchasing.

Time Limits

Each event organizer sets a time limit for how long you have to complete your purchase once it's your turn. This is typically between 5-30 minutes.

  • The time limit is communicated in your notification
  • If you don't complete the purchase in time, your spot is given to the next person
  • You will not be automatically re-added to the queue after expiration
  • You can rejoin the waitlist, but you'll be placed at the back of the line
Don't miss your window!

Act quickly when you receive a notification. The time limit is strict and cannot be paused. Have your payment information ready so you can check out promptly.

Troubleshooting

"Not your turn" error

If you see this error when trying to purchase:

  • Your time may have expired - check your notification for the time limit
  • The ticket may have already been purchased by someone else
  • You may need to rejoin the waitlist and wait for the next opening

"No waitlist availability" error

This means all available spots have been claimed:

  • The ticket's waitlist allocation is fully exhausted
  • You can still join the waitlist in case more availability opens up

Didn't receive notification

  • Check your email spam/junk folder
  • Ensure push notifications are enabled for the Streets app
  • Verify your phone number is correct (if provided)
  • Check the event page directly - the purchase option may be visible

Can't add other tickets with waitlist ticket

This is by design. When purchasing through the waitlist, you can only buy the single waitlist ticket. To purchase additional tickets, complete the waitlist purchase first, then go back and buy other tickets separately.
